Cabarrus County EMS Retains Model EMS Rating
December 20, 2006 - Cabarrus County North Carolina Emergency Medical Services maintained designation as a Model EMS System through the North Carolina Office of EMS for the fourth consecutive year. Cabarrus County North Carolina EMS has historically been at the forefront in providing advanced pre-hospital emergency care and is currently one of only 10 services in the state with the designation as a Model EMS Agency.

A team of inspectors from the North Carolina Office of EMS visited Cabarrus County EMS in late November. The inspectors examined many areas including quality management, training, credentialing, communication, and administration. Following the inspection, the team commented that many of the programs at Cabarrus EMS could be used as a model for other EMS agencies in the state of North Carolina. The team requested permission from Cabarrus EMS to share specific programs with other agencies. They were especially interested in the success with stroke programs, allied health relations, and the advanced cardiac programs also generated great discussion among the evaluators.

Cabarrus North Carolina EMS has placed strong emphasis on the delivery of advanced, compassionate care and education to the citizens of Cabarrus County North Carolina. The success of the system is achieved through the collaborative work of local fire departments, first responders, rescue squads, Northeast Medical Center, The Cabarrus County (Concord North Carolina) 911 Center, Public Safety Agencies and the County Administration. This collaborative approach to the delivery of pre-hospital care insures a successful program. To learn more about the EMS program in Cabarrus County log on to www.cabarruscounty.us/ems.
